Since the start of our partnership with REPREVE® in 2017, New Era has incorporated recycled performance yarn made from plastic bottles into a wide range of collections. By transforming post-consumer plastic into durable, high-quality fibre, REPREVE® helps reduce reliance on virgin materials while maintaining the premium finish and performance our caps are known for.

What Is REPREVE®?

Headwear that has the earth in mind. From bottles to caps, the journey is simple, sweet, and sustainable, all in four steps.

Plastic bottles are chopped, melted and made into yarn which is used to make a New Era cap.

Recycled Fiber for Sustainable Caps

Each REPREVE® cap begins its journey as a recycled plastic bottle, which is processed into chip, spun into yarn and crafted into headwear designed to last. The result is the same iconic fit and structure, with a lower environmental impact.

Today, REPREVE® features across selected styles in our NBA and MLB collections, as well as licensed collaborations including McLaren and Tottenham Hotspur. It’s sustainable innovation built into the caps you already know and love.

Low-Impact Fiber for Sustainable Beanies

To complement our collection of caps made from recycled plastics, we're continually looked at sustainable textile solutions. We now include Polylana® fiber in our beanie collections, a process which uses less energy and up to 85% less water during production. It's not only versatile and acrylonitrile free, but 100% recyclable and provides high quality products with low carbon footprints, it’s fashion that’s sustainable and stylish.

Soft to touch, their polyester fibers have the benefits of both natural and synthetic wools without using any animal products or derivatives, Polylana® prides itself in being the responsible choice when it comes product development.

New Era Recycled Products: Sustainable Style, Same Quality

In addition to REPREVE® and Polylana® fibres, New Era features a dedicated Recycled range made using 100% recycled fabrics such as recycled nylon. By utilising fully recycled materials, these styles further support the brand’s commitment to reducing environmental impact without compromising on comfort, fit or design.

What does REPREVE mean?

REPREVE® is a performance fibre made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles. Developed to reduce waste and lower environmental impact, REPREVE® transforms recycled plastic into durable yarn used in selected New Era Caps.

What is REPREVE fiber made from?

REPREVE® fiber is made from recycled plastic bottles that are cleaned, processed into chip and spun into yarn. This recycled yarn is then used to create high-quality headwear across selected NBA, MLB, and licensed collaboration collections such as Tottenham Hotspur Caps.

What material are New Era caps made of?

New Era caps are made from a range of premium materials including polyester, cotton blends, and recycled fabrics. Selected styles are crafted using REPREVE® yarn or 100% recycled fabrics as part of our Sustainable caps range, depending on the design and collection.

What is Polylana?

Polylana® is a low-impact fibre used in selected New Era beanies. Designed to use significantly less water and energy during production, Polylana® provides the same soft feel and durability as traditional materials.
