The New Era style guide is easy to use whether you're buying one of our caps, beanies, or pieces of clothing. We offer a size chart for both men and women, to ensure the best possible fit.
How to measure for our headwear size chart
All you’ll need to use our size chart is a flexible tape measure. When it comes to measuring your head, place the metal or plastic tip at the end of your tape measure at the centre of your forehead. Carefully wind the tape around your head so it sits just above your ears and about halfway up the back of your skull before holding the other end at the starting point. Getting someone else to do this for you can be easier, but it's entirely possible to go solo.
Remember not to pull the tape too tight, as your headwear should sit comfortably rather than feel too tight to your head. Our size guide for caps and beanies offers measurements in both centimetres and inches, so you can take whichever reading you prefer. On top of providing a men’s size guide shoppers can use, alongside our women’s size guide, you’ll also find a size chart tables for kids.
Measuring for jackets
When it comes to getting measured up for our jackets, all you'll need is your sleeve and body lengths. To measure your sleeve length, take your tape measure and call in someone to give you a hand. For the perfect sleeve length, measure from the centre of the back of your neck to the top of your arm, roughly where you can feel the joint between your collarbone and shoulder. That’s your first measurement.
Next, measure from that point down your arm to where you want the sleeve to finish. Add the two numbers together, and you're good to go.
To measure your body length, measure from the top of your shoulder to roughly where you feel the jacket should finish. Using these measurements, go to the size chart for the jacket you want and look for the numbers that are closest to yours. Again, these are all in centimetres and inches, so you can find that perfect fit.
Measuring for t-shirts and hoodies
Our t-shirts and hoodies require an extra bit of information in the form of your chest measurement. Using this, you can choose tops that are as loose or as form-fitting as you want. For the most accurate readings, this is probably a two-person job. Your part of the process is to stand naturally, with your arms by your side. All your helper needs to do is run your tape measure under your armpits, around your back, and ensure that it meets across the widest part of your chest.
Measuring for trousers
Taking measurements for our collection of trousers, joggers, and sweatpants is that much easier. Most of us tend to have a set of legwear that fits comfortably, so you can use those measurements. However, if you really want to be sure, measure your waist and hips. Once you're done, go to the sizes guide to see which trousers you want, and choose between Regular Fit and Slim Fit.
